Erath 2008 Pinot Gris Oregon

“Wine of the Week”  St. Petersburg Times

...Erath Winery in the state's Dundee Hills has been making pinots since 1967, a depth of experience that shows in its 2008 Erath Oregon Pinot Gris...This lively white has a more exuberant bouquet than many whites, greeting the inquiring nose with a nice blast of ripe pear accented by a hint of meadow flowers. That luscious pear is dominant on the tongue, too, where it is given an agreeable edge by tart green apple and then further mellowed by a whiff of warm toast. Big pear and sidekick apple persist through the long clean finish, at the end of which a lovely apricot grace note takes a bow.

Erath 2008 Pinot Gris Oregon

88 points  Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine

Just slightly richer than the standard-issue Pinot Gris and hinting at green peaches and sweet, slightly citrusy fruit, this rounded, well-balanced bottling carries a touch of subliminal sweetness and stays in focus from start to finish. If it is just soft enough to quaff down on its own, it is sports a spark of vitality and will do nicely with milder foods as well.

Screw cap. A fresh, full bodied Pinot Gris, with delicate floral-fruity flavors, and a smooth long finish, tasting of pear, pink grapefruit, and roasted nut.
