Erath Winery Featured in John Sarich’s New Cookbook "Chef in the Vineyard"

Jul .08 2010

Discover a selection of premiere wine estates from Washington, Oregon and California through the pages of “Chef in the Vineyard,” the new book by Chef John Sarich. In his fifth book Sarich presents a unique travel cookbook that includes more than 140 wine-friendly recipes with recommended wine pairings from each featured estate, including Erath Winery.

The book takes readers on a visual tour of each region. Sarich tells the story of 10 selected wineries, providing unique perspective with each one’s history, terroir and wine. The excursion begins with Washington State’s historic Chateau Ste. Michelle and continues the journey through Washington, visiting Columbia Crest, Snoqualmie, Col Solare, Northstar and Spring Valley Vineyard. Heading south, the tour explores Erath winery of Oregon and onto California’s Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, Conn Creek and Antica Napa Valley.

“My life was changed due to the time I spent around wine and food,” said Sarich. “My hope is that I am able to open the world’s eyes to the quality wines being produced in the Pacific Northwest and California, and to have these wines enjoyed with local, fresh, easy-to-prepare dishes.”

Overflowing with delectable three-course menus, “Chef in the Vineyard” captures the essence of the region with a collection of mouthwatering recipes -- from Prosciutto Salad Rolls and Grilled Quail with Poblano Cornbread Pudding to Oregon Blueberry Tart and Apple and Pear Tarte Tatin. Alongside each menu is a list of Sarich’s favorite ingredients from the area.

“Chef in the Vineyard” retails for $32.95 and will be available at Erath winery, as well as bookstores, major chains and supermarkets across the country, or by contacting the publisher.

John Sarich will host a cook book signing at Erath Winery on August 7 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
